Through-life Engineering Services Award @ The Manufacturer of the Year Awards

This award will go to the manufacturing company or plant that, in the opinion of the judges, is making quantifiable progress towards providing through-life engineering services, such as maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO), obsolescence management and design for service. The engineering services are required to support long-term operation of their products or in-house machineries. The companies will come from wide range of sectors from automotive, aerospace, defence, energy to process manufacturing. The companies will have integrated factory operations that identifies and utilises to good effect the interaction between design, machines, processing steps and the tasks that need to be performed, especially for performance based contracts. This may include use of flexible process and operations techniques, which allow for adjustments that are required to meet shifting manufacturing and demand scenarios and that implement effective maintenance programmes.

Judging Criteria

1 MRO Technological Excellence: To what extent does the entry show that the factory / plant clearly uses the best in class technology to improve their MRO services and has selected and adopted the most suitable improvement methodology (e.g. RCM, TPM)?

2 Maintenance Management: To what extent does the entry demonstrate that the factory / plant has identified and successfully embedded key maintenance metrics, and that these are part of the daily business review process, and support the improvement of other key business metrics (e.g. OEE)

3 Feedback to Design and Manufacturing: To what extent does the entry show that involvement in performance improvement activities have increased with teams targeting improvement activities by feeding back the maintenance/ technical service knowledge, information and data to the designers and manufacturing teams.
